Colnago Concept Road Frameset Art Décor Blue & Gold 2018

The Colnago Concept Art Decor Road Frameset was originally a special edition colorway to celebrate the release of their high end road bikes, now decades later in 2018, the Art Décor color way is back.

The Concept Road Frameset from highly revered Italian brand Colnago is the culmination of years of development, research and design, and has attracted a great deal of attention from the cycling world not only as Colnago's latest flagship model but as their first foray into elite performance aero road bikes.

Taking the Concept name from Colnago's first production carbon frame, produced in collaboration with Enzo Ferarri in 1986, this latest addition to the race-stable is the pinnacle of the brand's endeavour to make ever faster, ever more efficient, and ever more advanced frames.

With a shape borne in the wind tunnel, the Colnago Concept's intricately laid carbon frame takes the form of truncated airfoil tube profiles, rendering the frame aerodynamically smooth whilst simultaneously providing the rigidity and compliance for which Colnago is famed. Tipping the scales at just 990 grams, the Concept remains trim for a frame optimised for aerodynamics rather than weight. Coupled with a fork, at 400 grams, the frameset offers and delivers on the mantra of pure power and speed by refraining from penalising you with extra heft.

Boasting internal cable routing, promoting clean, aerodynamic lines, the fork is housed almost seamlessly in the headtube. A cut out seat tube offers exquisite looks makes efficiencies on your slipstream's behalf and reduces aerodynamic scrub.

With a sloping top tube housing an integrated and almost invisible seat clamp, the Concept takes a lead from the signature tropes of the Aero Bike genre and elaborates upon them ingeniously.

With ease of maintenance and adjustment a concern central to the design of the Concept, innovation doesn't come at the expense of adaptability. Direct mounted brakes sit in easy to reach places, allowing for mid ride fettling and intricate adjustment. Making use of Colnago's in-house best-of-both-worlds bottom bracket, the shell takes a ThreadFit bottom bracket system and mixes the width and rigidity of a PressFit bottom bracket with practical and replaceable threaded cups, again, improving the lifespan, and maintenance possibilities of this pedigree race frame.

With a straight front fork aerodynamically optimised over 90% of its entire length, the Concept provides a sensational feel whilst minimising buzz and furnishes you with a rake designed to provide light and responsive handling to pick, point and perfect each and every apex.

Monocoque carbon fiber construction, designed for optimal aerodynamic integration with the frame. The straight blades are thinly shaped over 90% of their overall length to offer excellent aerodynamic qualities, and the rake is designed to offer precision handling in comparison to a traditional design.

Aerodynamic shape – perfectly integrated with the seat tube. The seatpost clamp is an almost invisible, integral part of the top tube – resulting in maximum aerodynamics as well as clean lines.

The main advantages of these brakes are derived from their ideal integration, structurally and aerodynamically, with the frame and fork. In terms of performance, the dual-pivot design results in a more rigid system compared to center-mount, single-pivot brakes. Along with aerodynamic advantages, they also offer better modulation, lighter weight and a superior aesthetic.

The ThreadFit bottom bracket system is a result of Colnago’s impeccably high standards and desire to continue to produce the best bicycles. It combines the reliability and practicality of a threaded (BSA) bottom bracket with the added width and rigidity of a press-fit shell. From a technical point of view, the system consists of two threaded lightweight alloy cups, easily removable in case of need (as a result of wear, for example), inside of which the two bearings are pressed. It combines great functionality with safety, durability and ease of maintenance.

Each element of this frame is designed to achieve top performance. Thus, routing the cables internally becomes a must for a clean look and maximum aerodynamic performance. The route of the cables is designed for maximum smoothness, thus improving the both the punctuality and crispness of gear changes. The frame is compatible with both mechanical and electronic groups.
